Energy Psychology: The Gentle Power That Changes Everything

When I first decided I wanted to be a wellness practitioner, the very first thing I studied wasn’t nutrition, anatomy, or even coaching , it was reflexology. Something in me just knew that the body’s energy systems held so much wisdom. A little later, I trained in Reiki, and that opened another door into understanding how energy flows through us , and how we can use it to heal.
So for me, energy psychology isn’t just a “modality.” It’s been part of my personal and professional life from the very beginning. Now, I get to share it with women from all walks of life , helping them release old emotional weight, create a sense of safety in their bodies, and step into a lighter, freer version of themselves.
What Exactly Is Energy Psychology?
Think of it as the bridge between your thoughts, emotions, and your body’s energy systems ,like meridians, chakras, or reflex points. We’re not just talking about calming your mind; we’re talking about helping your whole system shift into balance so that change actually lasts. It’s where ancient healing wisdom meets modern mind-body science practical, grounded, and yes… sometimes magical.
The Research: Why It’s NOT woo woo
Energy psychology has been studied for its effects on stress, trauma, and overall wellbeing:
A 2019 review in Frontiers in Psychology found that EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD in multiple clinical trials.
Research published in The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease (2013) showed that EFT lowered cortisol levels , the body’s main stress hormone , by up to 43% in just one session.
Reflexology has been supported by studies in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice showing improvements in pain reduction, anxiety, and sleep quality.
Reiki has been shown in systematic reviews (including BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies) to support relaxation and quality of life, especially in people dealing with chronic conditions.
The science is growing ,and it’s showing that the mind-body-energy connection is very real.
Different Ways Energy Psychology Shows Up
Here are just a few of the tools you can explore (and that I often bring into my work with clients):
EFT / Tapping – Gentle tapping on acupressure points while speaking out loud about what you’re feeling. Amazing for calming anxiety and breaking old thought loops.
Thought Field Therapy (TFT) – A parent to EFT, with precise tapping sequences for specific emotions.
Crystal -
Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) – Works with meridians and memory to release stored stress.
Acupressure & Acupuncture – Stimulating specific points to balance energy flow, reduce pain, and release tension.
Reflexology – Using the feet, hands, or ears to influence different parts of the body and energy systems.
Reiki – Gentle energy channeling to support relaxation, healing, and emotional release.
Colour Therapy – Using the psychology of colour and light to influence mood, energy, and emotional state.
Ho’oponopono – A beautiful Hawaiian forgiveness practice using the words: I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you , an incredible tool for emotional clearing and self-compassion.
How to Introduce Energy Psychology Into Your Everyday Life
You don’t have to overhaul your routine. Small, consistent practices make the biggest difference:
Morning Reset – Place your hand on your heart, breathe slowly, and repeat the Ho’oponopono mantra to start the day with emotional clarity.
Midday Tap – Use EFT on your lunch break for anything stressing you out in the moment.
Colour Boost – Wear or surround yourself with colours that match the mood or energy you want (blue for calm, yellow for motivation).
Reflexology at Home – Massage the base of your feet before bed for deep relaxation.
Acupressure Pause – Press the point between your eyebrows (the “third eye”) while breathing slowly to relieve mental tension.
Why I Love Bringing This Into My Work With Women
When we work together, I’m not just giving you “mindset tools” or “self-care tips.” I’m giving you a way to communicate with your own body and energy so you can let go of old patterns that talking alone can’t always shift.
I’ve seen women release years of tension in a single session. I’ve watched tears turn into laughter, and heavy shoulders lift. That’s the beauty of energy psychology — it’s not about fixing you; it’s about helping you reconnect with the part of you that’s always been whole.
